In a dramatic turn of events, former NFL player Michael Oher, known for his role in the movie “The Blind Side,” has accused the family who took him in of deceiving him and withholding earnings from the film. However, the family is not taking these allegations lightly. Their high-powered entertainment attorney, Marty Singer, has released a lengthy rebuttal, calling Oher’s claims “offensive” and “ridiculous.” Singer also revealed that Oher had recently attempted to extort a large sum of money from the family, threatening them if they didn’t comply. Despite this, the family still deposited Oher’s share of the profits into a trust account for his son. Singer further stated that Oher’s lawsuit is nothing more than a desperate attempt to gain attention during his book tour. Oher, who joined the Tuohy family at 18 after a difficult upbringing, claims that he was led to believe he was adopted, but the paperwork actually established a conservatorship, allowing the family to make deals in his name. According to Oher and his lawyers, the family used this conservatorship to enrich themselves, leaving Oher out of the profits from the book and movie that brought their story to life. However, Singer disputes these claims, providing evidence of the family’s equal distribution of profits. He also explains that the conservatorship was established to assist Oher with his needs, such as health insurance and college admissions. Singer concludes by stating that the family will never oppose Oher if he wishes to terminate the conservatorship. This ongoing dispute between Oher and the Tuohy family has certainly captured the public’s attention.
