A star-studded group of SAG-AFTRA members, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jean Smart, and Bob Balaban, have come together to urge their fellow performers to vote “yes” on the strike authorization currently up for a vote. The guild is set to negotiate with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers starting on June 7, and a strike could potentially happen after the current contract expires on June 30. The Writers Guild has already been on strike for 29 days, and the Directors Guild is currently in negotiations with the AMPTP.
In a video released by the group, Louis-Dreyfus passionately asks her fellow performers to join her in voting “yes” on the strike authorization. Smart explains that a “yes” vote simply gives the national board the power to strike if the AMPTP doesn’t provide the necessary contract improvements. The video highlights major issues such as increased compensation, residuals, self-taping, and limitations on the use of artificial intelligence to replace actors.
Don’t miss out on this important vote – the deadline is June 5 at 5 p.m. PT. Check out the video featuring Louis-Dreyfus, Smart, and 16 other actors, including their powerful message to fellow performers.
