In a recent Twitter video, Tucker Carlson revealed that the Fox News producer responsible for labeling Joe Biden a “wannabe dictator” on air has resigned from the network. While Carlson didn’t name the producer, Alexander McCaskill, a long-time producer for Tucker Carlson Tonight, posted a photo on Instagram of himself leaving Fox offices with a box and a message saying it was his last day. Another senior producer, Thomas Fox, also left this week. Both McCaskill and Fox had worked on Carlson’s show.
The controversial chyron appeared on air during Donald Trump’s post-arraignment speech and featured a split screen of Joe Biden addressing a crowd on the White House lawn. The chyron was quickly taken down, but not before it was flagged on social media. The next day, Fox News released a statement saying that the chyron had been addressed.
Carlson, who is currently engaged in a legal battle with Fox News after his exit, made the incident a centerpiece of his show on Twitter. He claimed that the women who run the network panicked and scolded the producer responsible for the chyron before he resigned less than 24 hours later. Carlson also accused Fox News of overshadowing Trump’s arrest with their assessment of the chyron.
It’s worth noting that McCaskill was named in a lawsuit filed by another Tucker Carlson producer last spring, which described a culture of sexism and retaliation at Fox News. The network denied the allegations, but CNN reported that a settlement of the claims was in the works. Carlson’s Fox News contract runs through the end of 2024, and the network’s attorneys recently sent him a cease and desist letter over his Twitter show. One of his attorneys accused the network of trying to “silence” him.
