WGA East Resumes NYC Picketing and Targets ‘Daredevil’ as Air Quality Improves – Update

The Writers Guild of America East is back on the picket line after a brief hiatus due to hazardous air quality conditions caused by over 400 wildfires blowing down from Canada. The masked members of the guild are targeting the filming of Daredevil: Born Again at the Silvercup East facilities in Queens. The guild plans to resume picketing next week, weather permitting, with a variety of locations and studio HQs on the menu. The Bring Your Child to Picket event, which was delayed due to weather, is now set for June 13, again, weather permitting. The terrible air quality in New York City has caused the cancellation of indoor and outdoor events, flights, and more. The Air Quality Index reached a new record of 392 on Wednesday afternoon, putting NYC at or near the top of major cities with the worst air quality in the world. The WGA East is prioritizing the health of its members and is contemplating how long to keep pickets and Rapid Response teams off the streets. Stay tuned for updates from the EPA.
