The Writers Guild of America West is heating up with officer and board elections in the midst of their 51-day strike. Incumbent president Meredith Stiehm is seeking reelection and will go head-to-head with Rich Talarico, both selected by the guild’s nominating committee. The race for vice president will see incumbent Michele Mulroney challenged by Isaac Gómez, while the contest for secretary-treasurer will pit incumbent Betsy Thomas against Jeffrey Thompson. The guild has also selected 24 candidates to run for eight open seats on the board of directors, including incumbents and fresh faces. Members can also be nominated by petition, with deadlines fast approaching. Stay tuned for candidates’ statements and a Candidates Night forum before voting ends on September 19.
