EXCLUSIVE: Get ready for a major shakeup in the European indie film industry! Introducing Vuelta Group, a new studio that is set to revolutionize the space. Led by French media veteran Jerome Levy as Group Chairman, Vuelta has secured over $50 million in funding from a U.S. private equity firm. And that’s not all – they have recently acquired Paris-based international sales firm Playtime Group, German distributor-producer SquareOne, and Nordic distributor-producer Scanbox. Talks are also underway for companies from Italy, Spain, Benelux, and another from France to join the group. With the rise of platforms in Europe and the consolidation of U.S.-backed indie studios, Vuelta’s partners believe that they will be stronger together.
Vuelta Group will focus on distribution, film, and TV production. Each company will maintain its autonomy and branding, but they will all be part of the Vuelta Group as shareholders. Jerome Levy, along with David Atlan-Jackson as Chief Content Officer, will spearhead the operation. Former Fremantle Finance Director Allen Duffy will serve as Chief Finance Officer. Sebastien Beffa from Playtime, Al Munteanu from SquareOne
