CBS News has made an exciting addition to their team by hiring Jo Ling Kent as their senior business and technology correspondent in Los Angeles. Kent brings with her an impressive background, having spent six years as the business and tech correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. Her exceptional reporting has earned her an Edward R. Murrow Award and three Emmy nominations. Prior to that, she covered tech companies and startups as a correspondent and podcast host for Fox Business Network, and worked as an investigative and general assignment reporter at NBC Connecticut. She even served as a campaign embed reporter for NBC News during the 2012 cycle.
Neeraj Khemlani, president and co-head of CBS News and Stations, expressed his excitement about Kent joining the team. He highlighted her expertise in reporting on topics such as artificial intelligence, viral disinformation, social media privacy issues, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global supply chain. Kent has also conducted investigations into the working conditions at Amazon’s warehouses and the impact of Facebook on the 2016 elections. CBS News is thrilled to have her on board.
Kent’s career began as a digital reporter in ABC News’ Beijing bureau, and she later worked as an associate producer at CNN. Hailing from Minnetonka, MN, she is fluent in Mandarin and was even a US Fulbright Scholar to China, focusing on women’s access to legal aid. With her diverse background and expertise, Kent is sure to bring a fresh perspective to CBS News.
