Exciting News: Walk the Moon Takes a Break, but Promises a Glorious Return!
In a surprising announcement on social media today, Walk the Moon, the band behind the chart-topping hits “Shut Up and Dance” and “Anna Sun,” revealed that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus. Frontman Nicholas Petricca, who is also the singer and keyboardist, expressed the band’s need for a break from touring and making records together. He added, “When we do reconvene, that will be a glorious day. And the truth is, we don’t know when that’s gonna be.”
Petricca took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the band’s guitarist Eli Maiman, drummer Sean Waugaman, their dedicated team, and their loyal fan base. It’s clear that this decision was not made lightly, as Petricca described it as an “enormous act of love” to step away from something that has been the main focus of his creative love and energy for half of his life.
But fear not, Walk the Moon fans! Petricca assured that the band’s final show will be livestreamed around the world, giving everyone a chance to experience their incredible energy and talent. And even during their hiatus, Walk the Moon has exciting plans to release new music in the near future, keeping their fans eagerly anticipating their return.
It’s hard to believe that it has been 18 years since Petricca started the band that would eventually become Walk the Moon. From their humble beginnings at Ohio’s Kenyon College to their meteoric rise to fame, Walk the Moon has left an indelible mark on the music industry. Their debut album, “I Want! I Want!” released in 2010, showcased their unique sound and set the stage for their subsequent success.
So, while we may not know when Walk the Moon will grace us with their presence again, we can rest assured that their passion for creating music and connecting with their fans remains unwavering. This hiatus is a necessary step to make space for new creations, prioritize their well-being, and ultimately serve the well-being of Walk the Moon.
Stay tuned for more updates from Walk the Moon, and in the meantime, let’s celebrate their incredible journey and eagerly await their triumphant return!
