UPDATED after Thursday exclusive: Warner Bros has officially announced that Barbie has achieved the best previews of not only this summer, but of the entire year so far in 2023, with a staggering $22.3M. This surpasses the $17.5M earned by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s a fantastic weekend for Warner Bros after the stumble of The Flash earlier this summer. All eyes are now on the Warner Bros Discovery share price, which currently stands at around $13.03 (-0.6%). Universal reports that Oppenheimer earned $10.5M at 3,150 theaters. Barbie’s total includes $1.1M from Wednesday previews at 500 locations. Even without those, Thursday’s $21.2M is still the highest of 2023. In total, Thursday previews were shown at 3,400 locations.
