AMC Entertainment, the giant theater chain, has just announced the promotion of Ellen Copaken to Senior Vice President of Marketing. This exciting news comes as Copaken has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the company since joining in February as VP of Growth Strategy. She played a key role in the successful launch of AMC Perfectly Popcorn in over 2,600 Walmart stores, exceeding all expectations. Copaken’s impressive marketing background includes previous positions at renowned brands such as Frito-Lay, PepsiCo, and Hostess.
CEO Adam Aron has been vocal about the popcorn initiative, even mentioning it on a recent conference call. He also confirmed that AMC has plans to introduce branded candy at their theaters. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing a unique and enjoyable movie-going experience for their customers.
In addition to her new marketing responsibilities, Copaken will continue to oversee AMC’s retail popcorn business. She takes over the position from Eliot Hamlisch, who had been commuting from New Jersey to the company’s headquarters in Kansas. Due to personal reasons, Hamlisch was unable to permanently relocate.
Aron expressed his excitement about working with Copaken, praising her leadership and contributions to the launch of AMC Perfectly Popcorn. He believes that her talent and affable nature make her the perfect fit for this new role.
The grocery popcorn initiative will now fall under the Marketing department, with Copaken and her team overseeing its progress. Mark Pearson, the SVP and Chief Strategy Officer, will continue to lead AMC’s strategic growth opportunities, reporting directly to Aron. Ryan Noonan, the VP of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, will also report directly to Aron, overseeing external communications. Internal communications will now be handled by HR, led by Carla Chavarria.
Overall, these changes reflect AMC’s commitment to innovation and growth, ensuring that they continue to provide exceptional experiences for moviegoers.
