Lesli Linka Glatter has been re-elected as the president of the Directors Guild of America in a resounding victory at the DGA’s Biennial National Convention in Los Angeles. In her acceptance speech, she expressed her excitement about the unity and strength of the guild, stating, “We are as strong and united as ever before. Together, we will continue our shared fight for an industry where we are all fairly valued and celebrated for our work.”
Glatter emphasized the importance of the guild’s mission to protect the creative and economic rights of its members, especially during this critical time for the industry. She expressed her commitment to working collaboratively both internally and externally on the issues that affect everyone in the industry. Glatter also expressed her enthusiasm for working alongside a talented and diverse board, who generously volunteer their time to advocate for their fellow members and build an industry where everyone can thrive.
Glatter, who was first elected president two years ago, has been a member of the guild’s national board for 20 years. She previously served as the first vice-president and fifth VP. During her tenure as president, she worked with the 2023 negotiating committee to achieve a historic new contract that includes significant gains on wages, global streaming residuals, safety, diversity, and television creative rights. This contract will have a lasting impact on every member of the guild.
Former DGA President Thomas Schlamme, who nominated Glatter for re-election, praised her leadership and dedication to the members of the guild. He commended her for championing the needs of members across all categories, especially during the challenging contract negotiation. Schlamme highlighted Glatter’s wisdom, fearlessness, and compassion, stating that the guild is fortunate to have her as a leader who understands and relentlessly pursues the needs of the membership.
In addition to Glatter’s re-election, Laura Belsey was elected as the National Vice President, and Paris Barclay was re-elected as the Secretary-Treasurer. The other elected officers include Todd Holland as the First Vice-President, Ron Howard as the Second Vice-President, Gina M. Prince-Bythewood as the Third Vice-President, Seith Mann as the Fourth Vice-President, Millicent Shelton as the Fifth Vice-President, Lily Olszewski as the Sixth Vice-President, and Joyce Thomas as the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.
