BREAKING …In a stunning verdict, Gareth Pursehouse, the former boyfriend of Dr. Amie Harwick, has been found guilty of killing the Hollywood therapist. This first-degree murder conviction could result in a life sentence for Pursehouse, with no possibility of parole under California law. The sentencing is scheduled for December 6. The jury reached their verdict after just seven hours of deliberation over the past two days. Surprisingly, the defense chose not to present a case for their client.
Dr. Amie Harwick, a well-known family and sex therapist and former fiancée of Drew Carey, tragically lost her life when she was thrown from the third-floor balcony of her Hollywood Hills home on February 15, 2020. Although she was still alive when the LAPD arrived, she passed away shortly after being taken to a local hospital. The LAPD reported that they received a call about a woman screaming in the early hours of that morning.
While the autopsy report attributed Harwick’s death to blunt force injuries from the fall, it also noted “manual strangulation” as a contributing factor. Pursehouse, who had a history of obsession with Harwick, was charged with burglary and was found to have been “lying in wait” for up to four hours before killing her.
Dr. Amie Harwick was not only a therapist but also an author and appeared in the documentary “Addicted to Sexting.” She had filed a restraining order against Pursehouse in 2012, but it had expired, and they had some contact in the weeks leading up to her death.
Pursehouse was initially arrested but released on bond. However, he was re-arrested on a no-bail warrant and has been in County jail since February 19, 2020. Due to the pandemic and court backlog, his trial began on August 29.
In conclusion, the jury’s decision today clearly demonstrates that the prosecution successfully proved intent and malice, leading to a first-degree murder conviction for Gareth Pursehouse.
