Netflix’s Ted Sarandos Discusses Strike Conclusion as Star-Studded Hollywood Premieres Make a Comeback with ‘The Crown’

Four days after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended, Netflix hosted a glamorous Hollywood premiere for the highly anticipated Season 6 of The Crown. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, who played a crucial role in negotiating with the guilds, was thrilled to attend his first major studio premiere in months. “It’s a thrill,” Sarandos expressed to FilmmakerFocus. “I haven’t been out in months, so this is my first night out too. It’s great.”

At the premiere, Sarandos also shared his excitement about the strike finally being over. “Just thrilled to be back and thrilled to have everybody back,” he said. This weekend marked a much-needed break for Sarandos, who, along with other studio executives, worked tirelessly to reach an agreement after weeks of negotiations.

When asked if he was happy with the agreement, Sarandos responded with a resounding “Yes, definitely.” Shortly after the tentative agreement was reached, the guild called off the strike, allowing film and TV productions to resume. The deal has been approved by the SAG-AFTRA national board and is now awaiting ratification from the membership.

Sarandos remains optimistic about the outcome, stating, “I hope so. It’s all in front of the members now, so it’s up to them to ratify it.” The premiere was a celebration of the end of the strike, with Sarandos mingling with the cast and taking photos with talent. He even took a moment to capture pictures of the stunning costumes from Season 6 on display at the event.
