Lionsgate just made a major announcement that’s sure to excite Quentin Tarantino fans everywhere! The studio has teamed up with the iconic director to distribute three of his most beloved films: Kill Bill Volumes I & II and Jackie Brown. And that’s not all – Lionsgate has already built up an impressive portfolio of Tarantino movies, including Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Death Proof. CEO Jon Feltheimer couldn’t be more thrilled, saying, “We’ve grown what is now Hollywood’s largest portfolio of Tarantino films . . . and we want to take advantage of that.”
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Kill Bill, Lionsgate and Tarantino are teaming up to release a new, remastered 4K edition of the film later this year. And that’s not the only exciting news – Tarantino himself is working on a new film called The Movie Critic, set in 1977 California and based on a real-life guy who wrote movie reviews for a porno magazine.
But let’s not forget about the films that started it all. Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Volume 2 are martial arts revenge thrillers that follow Uma Thurman’s character, the Bride, as she seeks revenge on her former colleagues and leader, Bill (played by David Carradine). And Jackie Brown, an homage to 1970s blaxploitation films, stars Pam Grier as a flight attendant caught smuggling money. With an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda, Michael Keaton, and Robert De Niro, it’s no wonder this film has become a classic.
All in all, Lionsgate’s partnership with Tarantino is a match made in movie heaven. With such an impressive portfolio of films, it’s clear that this collaboration is one to watch.
