Peacock Series Pauses Production During Writers Strike Due to ‘Hysteria’

Exciting news for fans of the Peacock series Hysteria! starring Julie Bowen and Anna Camp, but unfortunately, production has been shut down in Atlanta due to the ongoing WGA writers strike. While this is not uncommon in New York and Los Angeles, it is the first series to suspend filming in Atlanta. However, WGA members are organizing pickets in key cities outside of New York City and Los Angeles to show solidarity and support for the strike. Created by Matthew Scott Kane and co-showrun by former WGA President David A. Goodman, Hysteria! explores America’s dark history of mass hysteria through the shocking story of the teenage Satanic Panic. The series follows a group of 1980s high school misfits as they exploit the growing hysteria around teen occult activity. With an all-star cast including Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, and Nikki Hahn, the series is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Daley and Goldstein, executive producers of the show, showed their support for the WGA on May 17th across the street from Paramount Studios with food from Taco 1986. While the shutdown is painful for everyone involved, WGA negotiating committee member Greg Iwinski believes it is necessary to close the pipeline of production to move the strike forward faster and get all 11,500 writers and the Guild back to work.
