Exciting news for the film and TV industry! The Directors Guild has unanimously approved a new contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. This deal includes significant pay raises, a whopping 76% increase in foreign residuals for major streaming platforms, and most importantly, protections against artificial intelligence replacing directors and their teams. With prominent members like Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Ron Howard, and Ava DuVernay on board, this agreement is a major win for the industry. DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter praised the deal, saying it “builds for the future” and “protects the DGA’s 19,000 directors and directorial team members today, and in the years to come.” The agreement also includes improvements in diversity and inclusion, increased studio transparency in residuals reporting, and the addition of Juneteenth as a paid holiday.
