Despite concerns about the future of Turner Classic Movies following restructuring at Warner Bros Discovery, CEO David Zaslav has put the channel in the capable hands of Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, Co-Chairpersons and CEOs of Warner Bros Film Group. These cinephiles are sure to keep TCM programming untouched and protected, while also overseeing other projects.
The move comes after several layoffs at Warner Bros, including TCM’s EVP and General Manager, prompting fears that the channel might be shuttered. But fear not, as filmmakers and film preservationists Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson have taken an emergency call with Zaslav to ensure the continuation of this cultural touchstone.
De Luca and Abdy are among the most respected executives in the industry, having previously served as Motion Picture Group Chairman and President at MGM. They were even honored with the PGA’s Milestone Award in February for their outstanding work.
