Ice Cube is stirring up controversy once again, this time with a promise to shake things up on his upcoming podcast tour. The rapper, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, took to Twitter to call out the Hollywood “club” and the unnamed “gatekeepers” who he claims are holding him back. He even went so far as to suggest that his Big3 Basketball league, which he co-founded with entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, is not getting the attention it deserves because of his “Contract with Black America” initiative.
“Some of you may not have realized that I’m not part of the club,” Ice Cube said. “And a lot of you listening to me right here and right now, you are not part of the club either. And what I realized with the club is, what makes them so mad is when you don’t want to be a part of their (expletive) club. That pisses them off. What club am I talking about? I’m talking about the club of gatekeepers that we all have to deal with. You know who they are and they definitely know who they are.”
Ice Cube’s career has been marked by controversy, from his days with rap group N.W.A and their anthem “F…Tha Police” to allegations of anti-Korean and anti-Semitism in his later recording career. He has also made a name for himself in the film industry, with roles in movies like “Boyz n the Hood,” the “Friday” franchise, and “Barbershop.”
Despite his success, Ice Cube feels that he is not being given the recognition he deserves, and he’s not afraid to call out the NBA for not working with the Big3. With his upcoming podcast tour, he promises to burn a few bridges and shake things up. Will you be tuning in?
