Jack Dorsey Criticizes Meta’s Twitter Rival Threads as Social Network Gears Up for Launch

Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, recently shared his thoughts on Meta’s upcoming Twitter rival, Threads. With the launch date set for July 6, people have been eagerly anticipating what Meta has in store. Dorsey took to Twitter to express his reaction, stating, “All your Threads are belong to us,” accompanied by a screenshot showcasing the app’s data collection capabilities.

Elon Musk, known for his active presence on Twitter, responded to Dorsey’s tweet with a simple “Yeah.”

Upon examining the “Data Linked to You” section on the App Store, Threads reveals the extensive range of data it may collect, including financial information, contact details, user-generated content, browsing history, usage data, purchases, contacts, identifiers, sensitive information, location, search history, and other data.

Meanwhile, Twitter’s App Privacy section reveals a similar range of data collection practices, with the exception of health and fitness, financial information, and sensitive information. It seems that Twitter collects a comparable amount of data from its users.

Bluesky, another Twitter competitor that Dorsey has invested in, states that it may collect data such as contact information, identifiers, and user-generated content.

Notably, Threads is directly linked to Instagram, allowing users of the latter platform to seamlessly transition to the new social network using their existing usernames. This development comes as Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, implemented viewing limits that have significantly impacted the user experience.
