Get ready for some disappointing news, folks. The highly anticipated presentation by Legendary at San Diego Comic-Con Hall H has been canceled. That means we won’t get to see the much-anticipated Dune: Part Two or the next Monsterverse movie. And that’s not all. ABC’s Abbott Elementary and Amazon’s Jury Duty, The Wheel of Time, and Gen V have also pulled out of their scheduled panels. It’s a real bummer.
The Dune: Part Two panel was supposed to be the highlight of Saturday morning, July 22. We were all hoping to catch a glimpse of Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, and Florence Pugh. It would have injected some much-needed excitement into the lackluster fanboy confab, which has already been affected by the WGA strike.
But let’s not dwell on the negatives. Dune: Part Two is still set to hit theaters on November 3, courtesy of Warner Bros. In this sequel, Chalamet’s Paul Atreides teams up with Zendaya’s Chani and her Fremen desert tribe to seek revenge against those who destroyed his family. It’s going to be epic.
Meanwhile, TV networks have been preparing for the SAG-AFTRA strike and its impact on Comic-Con. FX, for example, has planned to showcase episodes and clips from shows like Archer. And Paramount is still going ahead with its exclusive look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem on July 20.
We reached out to Comic-Con for more information on how the strike is affecting the conference, so stay tuned for updates. Let’s hope there won’t be any more cancellations.
