Together, they embark on a groundbreaking venture – creating the first ever erotic magazine for women. In season 1 of Minx, fans were captivated by the unexpected affair between Joyce’s sister Shelly and her co-worker Bambi. Now, in season 2, their relationship continues to evolve, leading them on a journey of self-discovery. Don’t miss the premiere of Minx season 2 on the Starz network and app on Friday, July 21st.
FilmmakerFocus had the opportunity to sit down with Jessica Lowe and Lennon Parham to discuss their characters’ journeys in season 2 of Minx. They shared insights into how their characters have evolved since we first met them and what it was like to transition from HBO to Starz while filming the second season.
Jessica Lowe & Lennon Parham Talk Minx Season 2
FilmmakerFocus: Listen, I was devastated when the show was canceled. I’m so glad that it’s back. What was it like for you both? It must have felt like a roller coaster.
Lennon Parham: Totally. Yeah. Because…
We were in the middle of filming when we received the news that our show was being canceled. It was a tough blow, but our incredible leader and show creator, Ellen Rapoport, took charge. She remained hopeful and assured us that we would find a solution. She said, “We’re already talking. We’re going to take care of this and we’re going to own it. We’ll figure it out.”
Deep down, I always believed that we would find a new home for our show. We had received so much recognition, being on numerous best of and year-end lists. It just didn’t feel right for that to be the end of our journey. Our hard work deserved to be seen by our fans. So, we are absolutely thrilled that our show has found its new home.
FilmmakerFocus: Absolutely. I love how both of your characters have evolved so much from when we first saw them. Can you talk about that evolution?
Jessica Lowe: Oh, definitely! Lennon’s character, Lennon, has gone through an incredible transformation. She has come so far from where she started, and it’s truly impressive. Lennon portrays her character perfectly.
Lennon Parham: It’s all thanks to the amazing writing. In the first episode, you see Lennon as a Pasadena housewife who is just excited for her sister’s opportunity. But as she gets involved with the magazine, she starts to find fulfillment. And then, of course, she falls in love. But things get complicated, and she shuts it down to focus on her marriage. Season 2 is all about her journey of self-discovery, and I feel honored to have played that role. Kudos to the writers and the WGA!
FilmmakerFocus: Bambi also goes through a significant transformation. Can you talk about that?
Jessica Lowe: Absolutely! Bambi is starting to find her place at Bottom Dollar and dipping her toes into the corporate world. She realizes that she wants companionship, a family, and to be part of something bigger. I love that she stands up for herself, even when it’s difficult, like when she confronts Shelly about how she was treated. Bambi is stronger than people give her credit for.
Lennon Parham: People often underestimate Bambi, but throughout both seasons, you see glimpses of her intelligence and adaptability. Jessica brings so much depth to the character. Bambi may have underestimated herself, but she’s proving everyone wrong.”Hey, you know what? I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want that,” Jessica Lowe exclaimed.
