Zachery Ty Bryan, the beloved actor who portrayed Brad Taylor on the iconic show Home Improvement, has found himself in trouble once again. According to TMZ, Bryan was arrested for domestic violence, marking his second offense. The arrest took place in Eugene, OR, where he was charged with felony assault in violation of the Abuse Prevention Act. This act is used when someone attacks a person who has previously been granted a restraining order due to domestic violence. Entertainment Weekly later confirmed TMZ’s report.
This is not the first time Bryan has faced legal consequences for domestic violence. In 2021, he pleaded guilty to two felony counts in a similar case in Oregon. He was sentenced to three years of probation and required to participate in a batterer-intervention program.
The charges against Bryan in 2021 stemmed from an incident in Eugene where he assaulted his then-27-year-old girlfriend. He was arrested and booked into the Lane County Jail, initially facing charges of harassment, coercion, strangulation, interference with making a report, and two counts of menacing and assault in the fourth degree. However, these charges were dismissed after he pleaded guilty to two counts.
According to TMZ, the police received a call reporting a physical dispute between a man and a woman at a residence in Eugene. When the police arrived, Bryan was not present at the scene. They later located him and took him into custody, where he remained as of late Sunday afternoon.
Further details about the incident are currently unavailable. It is unclear if the woman involved in the 2021 domestic violence case is the same person involved this time.
Aside from his role on Home Improvement, Bryan has appeared in various TV shows such as Veronica Mars, Burn Notice, Smallville, and the reboot of Knight Rider. He also served as an executive producer for the 2018 film The Kindergarten Teacher starring Maggie Gyllenhaal.
