In a highly anticipated meeting after more than three months, the Writers Guild and the AMPTP were unable to reach an agreement to resume contract negotiations. The AMPTP stated that they needed to consult with their member studios before moving forward, resulting in no agreement on the terms. The WGA Negotiating Committee expressed their disappointment, accusing the studios and streamers of playing games and spreading disinformation. They called for a new approach from the studios and AMPTP, urging them to make a fair deal and repair the damage caused by their strikes and business practices.
The AMPTP responded by emphasizing their commitment to getting people back to work and expressed concern for the thousands of people affected by the strike. Meanwhile, in LA, a picket hosted by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA drew thousands of writers and actors outside of NBCUniversal, with some protestors spilling into the streets. LA Mayor Karen Bass viewed the meeting as an encouraging development and expressed her willingness to personally engage in reaching a resolution if necessary.
