SAG-AFTRA Claims Interim Agreements Aim to Undermine Hollywood Studios’ Production Slates and Ensure Negotiations

SAG-AFTRA is taking a bold stance with its interim agreements, aiming to disrupt the production schedules of AMPTP companies and force them back to the negotiating table. President Fran Drescher and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland shed light on these agreements, which have been granted to over 100 film and TV projects, including Angel Studios’ Bible-based series “The Chosen,” A24 films “Mother Mary” and “I Dream of Unicorns,” and Apple TV+’s “Tehran.” In a message to members, they emphasized the importance of these agreements in supporting independent productions and providing opportunities for performers and crew to earn a living. They also highlighted that the terms proposed by SAG-AFTRA are fair and reasonable, and if independent productions can agree to them, then billion- and trillion-dollar companies should be able to as well. As the strike enters its fourth week, Drescher and Crabtree-Ireland acknowledged the historic nature of their fight for a groundbreaking contract and expressed solidarity with workers around the world who are battling corporate greed. They urged their members to stay determined, as their cause is just and their determination will lead them to victory.
