Black Bear Inks Deal with Rising Star Simona Tabasco for ‘The White Lotus’

EXCLUSIVE: Black Bear, the production, management, and financing company founded by Teddy Schwarzman, has just announced its exciting signing of Simona Tabasco, one of the breakout Italian stars from the second season of The White Lotus. This news comes hot on the heels of Tabasco’s collaboration with Black Bear as the producer of the upcoming psychological horror film, Immaculate, where she stars alongside fellow White Lotus alum Sydney Sweeney.

In the second installment of Mike White’s HBO satire The White Lotus, set in Sicily, Tabasco captivated audiences with her performance alongside Adam DiMarco, Michael Imperioli, Beatrice Grannò, Theo James, and more. The series, which has won 10 Emmys, saw Tabasco playing the role of Lucia Greco, a prostitute living the high life alongside aspiring chanteuse Mia (Grannò), as she builds her business on the grounds of The White Lotus Sicily. Her outstanding portrayal earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and a SAG Award in the Drama Ensemble category.

Before her work on the dark comedy, Tabasco had already made a name for herself in the Italian film and television industry. She starred in Edoardo De Angelis’ crime thriller Perez, which earned her a Guglielmo Biraghi Award from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists. Other notable credits include the crime drama series I bastardi di Pizzofalcone, Netflix’s romance drama series Luna Park, the comedy Fuoriclasse, rom-com È arrivata la felicità, and medical drama DOC – Nelle tue Mani.

Next, Tabasco will captivate audiences once again in the highly anticipated Immaculate, a film directed by Michael Mohan that delves into the dark and horrifying secrets of an Italian convent. She continues to be represented by WME and imPRint in the U.S. and Volver Actor in Italy.
