Joe Biden is stepping up to support California as the state faces the aftermath of Tropical Storm Hilary and an earthquake that shook LA residents on Sunday afternoon. In a statement, Biden said, “FEMA has been deployed to provide assistance to impacted communities, and the U.S. Coast Guard has pre-positioned aircraft for rapid response and search-and-rescue efforts.” He also spoke with California Governor Gavin Newsom as the state declared a state of emergency in preparation for the storm.
In the midst of these events, Biden and his Administration are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to provide additional assistance as needed. He urges everyone to take the storm seriously and listen to state and local officials.
Meanwhile, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck Ojai, California, adding to the challenges faced by Southern California residents. Although no major damages have been reported, it certainly gave them a good jolt. Biden assures that he is closely monitoring the earthquake and its potential impacts.
In response to the storm, the Los Angeles Unified School District has announced the closure of schools on Monday.
